One of the charges that the driver can face is DUI manslaughter. If convicted, Florida state law mandates a four-year minimum prison sentence. The maximum sentence is fifteen years, which can be lengthened depending on the number of victims and the driver’s criminal history. Another penalty for those convicted of DUI manslaughter is a lifetime revocation of their driver’s license, on top of the fines and fees that will be charged by the state.

The crash occurred early Saturday morning on Interstate 275 north close to milepost 24.
State troopers say that a Toyota Camry tried to change lanes and take the 22nd Avenue North ramp. Instead, the driver crashed into a Chevrolet Silverado. The impact caused the Camry to rotate across the interstate, going off-road and crashing into two trees.
Two passengers, identified as a 16-year-old female and a 17-year-old female, were killed in the accident. The driver of the Camry sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The driver and the passenger of the Silverado were believed to be okay.
The Florida Highway Patrol said that alcohol may have been involved in the crash. They did not say if any charges would be filed.
